Rachel Dolcine

Rachel J. Barrett-Dolcine is an award-winning entrepreneur, speaker, author, philanthropist and mental health advocate. 

Rachel launched Compass Consulting and Training Solutions in 2010 and has continued to implement innovative strategies to grow the company’s training classes, consulting services and other offerings.  Compass Consulting and Training Solutions, LLC is a community-based business that prides itself on being an asset to the communities throughout Central Maryland by helping entrepreneurs launch and build successful nonprofits. Through its Community Giving Back Program, Compass facilitates quarterly free training classes and workshops for nonprofit and community organizations that are on a limited budget.

Rachel has been a Trainer and Professional Development Facilitator for over 10 years.  Rachel is an Adjunct Faculty staff member at Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC); a Certified Health & Safety Institute (HSI) CPR and First Aid Instructor; a Certified Health & Safety Institute Instructor for CPR and First Aid Trainer Certification Course; and an approved Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Office of Childcare (OCC) Core of Knowledge Trainer. 

Since 2012, Rachel has developed custom content for over 30 trainings, workshops and certification courses.  Rachel has developed courses for clients such as Baltimore Reads Training Services, Baltimore City Department of Health (40 hour Literacy Ambassador Training Program), Y in Central Maryland (iDiscover- a 10 month After School Enrichment curriculum) and National Association of Christian Women Entrepreneurs (3 part series on Strategic Planning).

Rachel is a sought after international keynote speaker with a focus on motherhood, raising sons, motivation, leadership, team development and living and thriving with anxiety and depression.

In April 2017, Rachel published her first book, ‘Conversations With My Son: Fun & Witty Inspiration for Mothers Raising Boys’, a collection of conversations she has had with her son, Julius, since he was in preschool.  Rachel wrote this book in hopes of inspiring mothers raising boys to listen to their sons, look for opportunities to have meaningful conversations and create a safe space at home so that sons feel safe enough to talk, make mistakes and grow. Rachel hosts Mothers & Sons Summits, a full day conference focused on cultivating healthy relationships between mothers and sons, across the US and in the Caribbean. She also hosts local Mothers With Sons Sip & Chats, support groups that provide resources, encouragement and support for mothers who are raising sons in challenging environments.

In December 2018, Rachel published her second book, Love Behind the Blue Line, a collection of stories written by Law Enforcement wives that chronicle the challenges and triumphs of being married to a law enforcement officer.


Rachel received her Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in Deviant Behavior and Social Control from John Jay College of Criminal Justice; a Master of Public Administration from the University of Baltimore; is a graduate of the Associated Black Charities (ABC) Board Pipeline Leadership Program and the prestigious Maryland Certified Public Manager Program- Nonprofit Track at the University of Baltimore and the Loyola University Leadership Essentials Program.

Rachel has been recognized for her philanthropic work and business accomplishments. Her awards include: Maryland’s Top 100 Women, Maryland Very Important Professionals Under 40, Maryland’s Leading Women, Women in Business International Nonprofit Leader and F.A.M.E Program Leader & Mentor.


Rachel is an avid volunteer and currently serves as the Founder of the Joseph and Vera Douglas Family Foundation, Inc.; is on the Board of Directors for Fostering Change Network Foundation, Inc.; and Police Wives of America. She also serves as a Committee member on the Advisory Board for the University of Baltimore Certified Public Manager's Program and as a Committee Chair for the Jamaica Diaspora Taskforce Action Network.


 Rachel lives in Randallstown, Maryland with her husband and son.
